You Know When

You know when you are in Japan if:
totally something unrelated to anything is made into something AWESOME.

This will be one of my many "You Know When" posts.  These posts will be of different places and of different things (most especially weird forehead-slapping kinds of things. My highlight currently is my trip and to state the obvious, it is going to be "You know when you are in Japan..."(●⌒∇⌒●)v

The glamourous portrait of the love child of the Awesome Face meme and I's is exhibit A: You know when you are in Japan if you totally something unrelated to anything is made into something. The moment  I landed in Japan, it did not hit me right away that I was in the Land of the Rising Hello Kitty. It took me a trip to the convenience store to experience how wacky the Japanese can tend to be. In exhibit A, you will see in my hands is a Dragonball Goku-looking (literally) bottle of mineral water... or was it soda water. Whatever it was, I never thought of doing that in Packaging class back in school.

Japan does packages like these to promote things and the bottle is one. This was promotion for Dragonball Kai, the remake of Dragon Ball Z that no one talks about or even bothered watching (CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA will never be replaced凸(`⌒´メ)凸). Although everyone got over the series already, the bottles to promote them are still available for purchase.

Something is turned into something totally unrelated
and named with something it has no connection to (or does it?)(◎-◎;)

I posted this photo a while I was still staying in Japan. When I saw it in a vending machine, I had to buy it and taste the POWER SQUASH that is Cell. It is either a product of cute Japanese Engrish or it is Akira Toriyama saying that Cell was indeed a vegetable. Or he just likes punching people.

The bottle was around 250¥ if I remember correctly and the Power Squash you can find in Vending machines at 110¥.

OMAKE:

The back of a Kamen Rider soda can.
In case if you were wondering, it tasted like bubblegum and not of awesome. :(
